Senior Property Officer - Operations | Kaiurungi Matua Rawa
Make your mark on Wairoa's property portfolio. We're looking for an experienced property professional to lead the operational management of Council's property and built assets.
This is a key role, responsible for ensuring our buildings and facilities are safe, compliant and fit for purpose while supporting long term planning and service delivery for our community.
About the role
You'll oversee a diverse portfolio including corporate buildings, commercial properties, pensioner housing, airport facilities, public amenities and Council-owned land.
From contract management and maintenance to leases, legalisation and lifecycle planning, you'll ensure our property assets are well managed and aligned with Council priorities.
What you'll be doing
- Lead day-to-day management of Council's property portfolio.
- Manage maintenance, renewals and capital works contracts.
- Oversee leases, licences and property transactions.
- Monitor asset condition and plan for upgrades or disposal.
- Support asset management planning and Long Term Plan delivery.
- Manage budgets, reporting and financial performance.
- Build strong relationships with contractors and stakeholders.
What you'll bring
- At least 5 years' experience in property or asset management.
- Strong contract, project and financial management skills.
- Experience with property legal processes (leases, acquisitions, disposals).
- Sound knowledge of relevant legislation.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach.
