Wairoa District Council is looking for someone who's passionate about supporting our district to be prepared for, respond to and recover from emergencies. In this role, you will help drive readiness and resilience across our organisation and community, working closely with partner agencies, iwi, hapū and local groups.

About the role

In this role, you will contribute to the development and delivery of key emergency management plans, procedures and trainings across the district. You will help maintain an effective Emergency Operations Centre and support council to meet its statutory obligations. A key part of your work will also involve engaging with the community to build awareness and preparedness, supporting local initiatives and strengthening partnerships. When emergencies occur, you will play an important part in providing operational support and assisting the response and recovery efforts.

About you

You will bring strong organisational and communication skills, along with the ability to work confidently with a wide range of stakeholders. A calm, practical mindset is essential when dealing with high pressure situations. You will have a genuine interest in building a safer, more resilient community and will have experience in emergency management and local government.
