Are you ready to take on a rewarding challenge in a vital community-focused role? We are looking for a dedicated and energetic Infrastructure Operations Engineer to help us maintain and enhance the essential infrastructure that supports the people of Wairoa.

About the Role:
As the Infrastructure Operations Engineer, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day monitoring, maintenance, and improvement of Council-owned infrastructure. This position involves a balance of office-based coordination and field-based oversight, working closely with contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to a high standard.

What We're Looking For:
We're seeking someone with a can-do attitude, strong work ethic, and a desire to grow within the role. A National Certificate or Diploma in Civil Engineering is ideal and contract management experience is also desirable.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent relationship management and communication abilities
  • Confidence in working with contractors and suppliers
  • The ability to lead, coach and encourage continuous improvement
  • Good computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office and data systems
  • A proactive, patient, and resilient approach
  • A team-oriented mindset and a willingness to get stuck in when needed
