Compliance Officer - Kaiurungi Tūtohu

As a Compliance Officer - Kaiurungi Tūtohu, you'll be the cornerstone of our community's safety and regulatory compliance. Your role will involve proactive management of animal control issues, enforcement of council bylaws, and ensuring public safety across our district.
Your key responsibilities:
- Respond promptly and decisively to incidents involving aggressive dogs, dog attacks, and wandering animals, safeguarding the wellbeing of our community
- Conduct thorough patrols to identify and manage unregistered dogs, enforcing council regulations with fairness and efficiency
- Issue notices and take legal action as necessary to uphold our community standards, collaborating closely with stakeholders including police and regulatory bodies
- Educate and support residents on their responsibilities under relevant legislation, promoting a harmonious living environment
- Maintain rigorous standards of health and safety across all operations, ensuring a secure environment for all stakeholders.
About you:
You'll bring 3-4 years of experience in compliance or enforcement roles, where you've gained a solid understanding of legislation like the Local Government Act 2002 and Dog Control Act 1996. We're looking for someone with a relevant level 5 qualification or diploma, or an
equivalent background, along with ongoing professional development in audit, inspection, or investigation practices. Your proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and your systematic approach to managing tasks and documentation will be crucial for excelling in this role.
